If you are a proud Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 owner, looking forward to enjoying the Assassin’s Creed Rogue on your console, without having to upgrade to the new generation platforms, we have some good news and some bad news for you.

The game is an exclusive title which is coming only to older generation consoles, because Ubisoft wanted to make sure their next gen title, Assassin’s Creed Unity, is designed only for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC to harness its full potential. While this cannot be called as a gap filler to keep players keep on the old consoles, it does look like the game developers have compromised a bit, to make sure they don’t end up spending too much time on its development.

The latest issue of the Game Informer magazine had a special coverage on this upcoming title, which revealed that Assassin’s Creed Rogue will not have a multi-player option. While this cannot be considered to be shocking news, given the fact that this title was supposed to focus on the story line, rather than additional features, it does let us know that Ubisoft is actually moving towards a new generation. Game development companies cannot make such public announcements as they have a large fan base to cater to, on PS3 and Xbox 360; but it is evident that the end of 2014 will also be the end of the older generation Microsoft and Sony consoles, without a doubt.

New Details Emerge

For your record, Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be a single player only game and this is the second title to not have the feature after Assassin’s Creed II that got released in 2009. But, Ubisoft did make up for this, by introducing four player co-op mode, in Assassin’s Creed Unity. Online modes are familiar to the series but the ability to complete missions with a friend is definitely an interesting proposition and when you have three friends to help you, it’s hands down the best experience you could have.

To enjoy all this, you would have to upgrade to the new console. We can just set aside all this for now and move on to the good part. The upcoming game, Rogue, will be a mix of sea and land warfare. But, unlike Black Flag which was completely set in the ocean, this will be a new experience for gamers. The title is also going to feature a cameo from Edward Kenway, the protagonist pirate from Black Flag who might assist you in some random mission. The name of your ship is Morrigan, which is not as big as the Jackdaw, because there are multiple levels, where you are supposed to navigate through narrow canals.

Improved Gameplay Mechanics

Multiple game play mechanics have been improvised for Assassin’s Creed Rogue, including a better Eagle vision, advanced weapons as you are playing a Templar this time, the firecracker gun to distract guards during a fight and a new Assassin Interception feature which will allow you to intercept assassination targets.
