Attractive Sony Xperia Z2 vs. Amazing HTC One M8 – Display, Design and Specifications

While most people are having discussions about Samsung or Apple, they often forget that there are other significant competitors on the market as well.

Both HTC and Sony have been in the smartphone race for a long time and they have always had what it takes to take on both Apple and Samsung.

The HTC One M8 and the Sony Xperia Z2 are two amazing devices that can truly be called flagships within their companies. There are several notable differences between these devices that the users should be aware of, and they might be an important factor in deciding which device to buy.

When it comes to the display, the HTC One M8 has a 5” display with 1920×1080 resolution, while the Sony Xperia Z2 has a bit larger display (5.2-inch) that features the same resolution. The same resolution (with a small difference in size of the display) means that the Sony Xperia Z2 has a lower pixel per inch density than the HTC One M8 does, but this is something that isn’t noticeable to the naked eye. Both displays look amazing, and no matter which device you choose to pick up, they won’t disappoint.

The Sony Xperia Z2 is 8.2mm slim, and it weighs 163 grams, while the HTC One M8 is 9.35mm slim. Even though the Z2 is slimmer than the HTC One M8, it doesn’t mean that its design is necessarily better. When it comes to how premium the phone looks, it is safe to say that both of the devices look astonishing since they both offer high quality build that is combined with a great design. The HTC One M8 has slightly curved aluminum body and a pair of very nicely designed speakers on the front. Sony Xperia is not far behind when it comes to the attractiveness of the design. This device has a very nice tempered glass finish and an aluminum trim. The downside is that it is not very comfortable to hold due to its flat design (the curves that are featured on the HTC One M8 really make the phone feel great in your hands).

Both of the devices come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (clocked at 2.3 GHz), but it is the available RAM memory that makes a difference since the HTC One M8 comes with 2 GB of RAM, while the Sony Xperia Z2 features 3 GB of RAM. This makes the Sony Xperia Z2 a slightly better phone in terms of the specs, but they are both capable of handling the most demanding applications. Despite its lack of RAM, the HTC One M8 is an incredibly powerful phone, and due to great optimization, the additional 1 GB of RAM was not necessary. The Sony Xperia Z2 has a better battery as well, and this is where the difference is somewhat noticeable. The difference in capacity is really big (3200 mAh vs. 2600 mAh), but both of the devices will easily last an entire day without demanding a recharge.
