Blackberry Q10 vs Gionee Elife E6 – Can an Improved Hardware Help Blackberry Change Its Image

Blackberry has been renowned in the mobile industry for manufacturing business phones.

It is due to this title that the Blackberry smartphones have taken a back seat in the overall smartphone competition. Many other companies have changed their marketing strategies in order to survive in the cutthroat competition prevalent in the mobile world. Changing with the times and about time they did so, the Blackberry made certain changes to the operating system, giving the Blackberry handsets a reincarnation.

The release of Blackberry Q10 is a good example of the enhancements made to the operating system. Released in the month of April 2013, Blackberry Q10 handset is all ready to set the stage on fire. In comparison today, the Chinese manufacturer, Gionee aims to incorporate a change into the smartphone segment.


The Chinese manufacturer, Gionee, released Elife E6 Android based smartphone. The handset comprises of high-end processor spec sheet. It enables the handset to run the operating system in the best manner possible. A quad core Cortex A7 processor, with a clock speed of 1.5GHz along with PowerVR 5XT Series graphic processor powers the Elife E6 handset.

In comparison, the Blackberry Q10 comprises of a dual core Snapdragon Krait processor, running at a speed of 1.5GHz. However, in terms of graphic processor, the Blackberry Q10 encompasses of Adreno 225 for LTE variants and PowerVR SGX544 for its non-LTE variants.


In terms of connectivity, both smartphones offer basic connectivity features. Both handsets are equipped with USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity features. However, the Blackberry Q10 comprises of Wi-Fi connectivity with additional bands and NFC support. Regardless, the Wi-Fi direct feature, available in the Chinese handset is missing in the Blackberry Q10 smartphone.


In terms of camera comparison, the Chinese handset beats the Blackberry’s front facing camera with ease. The Elife E6 user-facing 5MP camera is a better prospect for selfies and video conferencing. The handset has an upper edge to most of its counterparts in terms of user-facing camera. In addition, the Elife E6 comes equipped with a better 13MP primary camera as compared to the 8MP rear camera of the Blackberry Q10 handset. However, the 8MP camera of the Q10 offers an almost comparable range of features to that of the E6 handset. However, the Q10 misses panorama feature, which is present in the E6 handset.

Regardless, both handsets come equipped with full HD video capturing ability, which is a handy feature.


The Blackberry Q10 handset is readily available for a reasonable price of approximately $260. However, the Gionee Elife E6 handset is exorbitantly priced at $450.
