Blackberry Q10 vs. Huawei Ascend Mate 7 – Specs, Performance and Retail Prices Comparison
The Blackberry Q10 offers a more spacious and larger QWERTY keyboard along with a fresh inclusion of the Blackberry 10.1 OS. It makes a wonderful combination of the past Blackberry machines with modern software that can run multiple applications at a go.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is one of the latest additions to the world of large screens.
However, the name baffles many, since this device is not the 7th edition nor does it have a 7 inch display. Even so, it has an impressive 6 inch display and a full High Definition resolution among other awesome features. Here is a closer comparison of the two devices.
Display and Design
The Ascend Mate 7 is not a small device as 83% of the device’s face is the screen. It has a 6 inch screen having 157mm in length and 81mm width. This makes it impossible to operate with one hand unless your palm size is equal to that of Pluto (the planet). A narrow bezel surrounds the display and the metallic body. This device is available in three different colors – silver, dark grey and light gold.
The Blackberry Q10 has a smaller screen measuring 3.1 inch that sits on top of a round, notification light colored red. The edges of this device are made of aluminum, designed to withstand scrapes and scratches. This also strengthens the device’s chassis guarding it against flexing and bending. The back of the Q10 is divided by a stylish stripe made of stainless-steel.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a 1920 x 1080 pixel display, whereas the Blackberry Q10 has a lesser pixel display at 720 x 720 pixels. As such, you may strain a little when viewing a video or photos or even reading pages. The screen of the Q10 does not have a bright light, but thanks to the OED technology, viewing angles are wide. There are deep levels of black and high contrast.
Huawei Additions and Android Software
The Ascend Mate 7 runs the Android 4.4.2 KitKat version and this is rather disappointing since it is not the latest version of the Android OS. It has the Octa-core processor made up of 2 quad-core units.
Huawei has also changed that Android interface; but the changes are not immediately noticeable. This Android interface is visually different mainly because it does not have an app tray. Instead of an app tray, all widgets and apps are found in the many home screens.
The Blackberry Q10 UI, Features and Software
The Blackberry Q10 runs the latest Blackberry 10 OS. It comes with new and amazing features enjoyed by the Z10 owners. This is inclusive of true multitasking and novel means of having all your social site’s feeds, e-mail and messages with ease.
Blackberry Hub directs all your alerts and messages into a single inbox, which displays the number of all incoming alerts and messages along with the subject lines. When using this device, powering and prioritizing communication is a breeze.
The Cameras and Battery
The Mate 7 has a 13MP rear-facing camera that has the ability to take great shots. Outside, the colors are good, there is even exposure and at full screen you will get plenty of detail. However, the colors are less impressive when on a landscape scene. As for the battery, it has a staggering 4000mAh battery.
The Q10 has an 8MP rear-facing camera and essentially uses the same software and image maker used by the Z10. In low-light, you get high levels of detail in the shots and it takes multiple shots allowing you to choose the best one. On the downside, this phone’s camera requires a second to take a shot and this duration substantially lengthens when in HDR mode. As for the battery, it comes with a 2100mAh battery.
The Blackberry Q10 has a pricing of about £560 or $850 or AU$830
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a price tag of about £400 or $650 or AU$690
