Most Google products are becoming smarter every day and the latest one to join the list is the Google Maps.
The latest update now allows the app to notify you of any traffic delays and also suggest alternative routes.
The official blog announced the news confirming that the maps will no longer be a passive way to simply find your route, but it will actively provide you more information related to the path you have chosen. A similar app named Waze is already available, where users provide real time updates to the servers which will be shared with everyone on the same route. It is owned by Google and doesn’t make much of a competition. Maps try to achieve something else, because, instead of focusing on user updates, it will gather its own data and will notify you of traffic congestion if there is one.
Smart Traffic Alerts
Google Maps call it the smart traffic alert which will not only let the user know that there is a traffic congestion in the particular route, but will also let them know what caused the problem. In a scenario, when you don’t have the option to choose an alternate route and have to rely on the same road, it will also let you know how long it will take before traffic could be cleared.
All these updates are real time and make the best use of the GPS as well as the internet to keep you updated. Apart from letting you know of the issue, it will also suggest a couple of alternate routes and the time you will save or lose by traveling through them. It will let you know how long you might spend sitting in your car for the traffic to clear and an automatic comparison will be posted to show the time it takes to travel a longer but cleaner route.
Faster, Seamless Updates
With the update rolled out to Google Maps, people should be able to readily change their route or plan their time waiting in traffic in case they prefer to stay on the same road. With all these updates and more, the maps app is now better than ever. It is highly reliable and provides you all the information you need on the road besides providing the usual locations for you to travel with ease.
The update should be live by the moment and as usual, there may be some patches rolling out as well to fix bugs, if any.
