The HTC One was widely acknowledged to be the best smartphone of 2013, but the lack of advertising funds from the company meant that it was overshadowed by the sales figures from Samsung and Apple.
However, HTC are determined not make the same mistake again and the HTC One(M8) not only comes with a much better list of features, but it also takes care of branding issues as well. This is especially important since it will be competing against the iPhone 5S.
This flagship model for Apple came out at the start of 2013. Even though it is set to be replaced in a short while by the iPhone 6, it has not stopped comparisons between the HTC One (M8) and the iPhone 5S.
In terms of design, these are vastly different phones and it is primarily because of the display size. The iPhone 5S sticks with the same 4 inch display that first made its debut in the iPhone 5. Rumors stated that it could be expanding on this display, but Apple chose to stay with the same design. In contrast, the HTC uses a very large 5-inch display that has become the norm of high-end smartphones featuring the Android operating system.
The HTC One (M8) comes with the latest version of the Sense user interface, which modifies the Android operating system heavily with inclusions of its own. This is one of the main reasons for the phone having to do with a very powerful quad core processor. There is also a large amount of RAM available at the disposal of the user. Apart from being helpful when it comes to multitasking, this phone also provides the much-needed ability to run powerful apps.
The user interface of the iPhone 5S is significantly different from the previous generations of the iPhone, but the changes are largely cosmetic. The iOS 7 used in the phone also manages to make small aspects much better. The iPhone 5S also represents one of the best use of cloud computing.
Being high-end smartphones, it is not surprising to see the HTC One (M8) and iPhone 5S come with a range of connectivity options that will make it easier to connect with any other device. Of course, the iPhone 5S will not be able to send files to other phones through aspects like Bluetooth. In order to overcome this hindrance, the phone does come with other aspects like Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB ports. The lighting adapter helps iPhone 5S provide a new level of sophistication.
The HTC One (M8) is slightly better equipped in terms of connectivity due to the presence of aspects like Wi-Fi direct and DLNA. The phone also has more RAM than the iPhone 5S.
The unlocked 16 GB version of the iPhone 5S is the cheapest available flagship model that money can buy right now. It will be available for around $ 700 depending upon the choice of colors. The latest HTC One (M8) will be around $ 680 for the 32 GB version.
