IOS 8 is a great device that mainly focuses on the major changes that are announced by Apple.
Its main purpose is to open up the operating system of Apple to third party development to greater extent. It also boosts the productivity with deeper inter-app sharing as well as implementing some features. However, there are some features of this device that are not known to many.
The following are some of the hidden features to discover concerning iOS 8.
Emergency Health ID
It is powered by the Apple’s new healthkit and emergency healthy ID that allows anyone to access the basics and potentially life-saving information from your phone’s lock screen. For you to set it up, you simply need to open up the health app, tap the medical ID on the right button and then add as little or as much information as you want. Once you tap the emergency button on the left side you will see an option to view the medical details as well as emergency contact numbers.
Auto Delete Messages
For those who have used their iPhones for a long time, they have already built up an archive of text messages. However, this may occupy important space that may be used to store important information or apps. You do not have to worry about it since the iOS deletes old messages automatically after every 30 days thereby freeing up gigabytes of storage.
Snapchat Like Videos And Photos
This feature enables one to send instant self-destructing audio clips, pictures and videos to the contacts as a message. For you to send pictures, simply go to the message window, tap and then hold the camera on the left side. A circular window shall emerge thus allowing you to take a fast snap. However, you need to be careful since once the video or picture has been shot, it will be sent automatically without editing or confirmation.
Swipe Notifications Individually
Swiping at the top on the screen normally displays the notifications of your phone. You will be informed of different alerts as well as app-related information. You can clear these notifications all at once or each at a time by swiping left.
Apple is currently changing the way the camera takes pictures. When taking pictures, just tap where you want to focus the screen and a sun icon will appear at that place. Drag it down or up to manually control the levels of exposure on the fly.
Hide Images From Photostream
This enables one to hide the embarrassing and unsightly photos that you want to keep and prevent other people from seeing. Locate the offending image, tap, hold it and select Hide from the menu which pops up. The image shall be contained in an album referred to as Hidden. You can access this folder anytime you wish by opening your photos app and choosing albums at the right corner.
Other hidden features include the following
- Swipe quick type away
- Battery hogging apps
- Recovering recently deleted photos
- Mute individual people
- Request mobile sites and many others.
We could probably go on but we hope this has given you a little taster of some of the extra, unknown, features of the iOS platform, and maybe you’ll go and have a little explore on your own…
