iPhone 6 Plus versus Galaxy Note 4 – Design, Display and Specs

Apple has stepped into the phablet market in big style and they brought a strong competition to the Galaxy Note Series.

This fresh competition comes in the form of the iPhone 6 Plus and Apple is hoping that this will be the device that will be on top of the phablet market for some time to come.

Apple is a company that has been known for their high quality design and they have once again delivered that quality with their new iPhone 6 Plus model. The body is made out of aluminum and the curved edges that are featured on the body are combined with the curved edge of the display, making a very attractive design. The iPhone 6 Plus weighs 179 grams, which isn’t a lot, considering the size of the device.

The Galaxy Note 4 features a metal frame, which is something that the users have been asking for, for a long time and Samsung has apparently decided to listen to the feedback and they delivered what the users wanted. However, the device still features a cheap-looking plastic back cover (under which you can find the battery). Being able to change the battery is something that is always welcomed, but the back panel could have been a bit nicer. The phone weighs 176 grams, which is not a big difference when compared to the weight of the iPhone 6 Plus.

Both devices had problems at launch, the iPhone 6 Plus was bending more than it should have, and some users have even reported their phone completely broke while in their pockets, while the Galaxy Note 4 featured large gaps around the frame.

The Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7” large Super AMOLED screen, and it has a high 2560×1440 resolution that translates to 515 ppi. The iPhone 6 Plus is not much different when it comes to the screen. It has a 5.5 inch LED IPS screen, and it has 1920x 1080 pixel resolution that delivers 401 ppi. Both devices have great displays that are viewable under great angles. If you take either of the devices outside, you will notice that the displays are more than viewable under direct sunlight, which is something that is always nice to see.

The iPhone 6 Plus has an A8 processor with M8 coprocessor. Apple states that this device is faster than its predecessors, but no more information is revealed. However, when using the device you can notice that it packs quite a punch. It is capable of handling virtually anything you throw at it with ease, so it is a great device that should easily handle demanding apps. The Galaxy Note 4 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, which are really strong specs that will satisfy any user.

Final Verdict

There is no clear winner here. The iPhone 6 Plus is definitely a nicer looking phone, but the Galaxy Note 4 is a bit larger and offers higher screen resolution. When it comes to the specs, both devices are really well equipped in terms of hardware, and they should handle anything you throw at them.
