iPhone 6 Plus vs iPad Air 2 – Latest Smartphone Meets Latest Tablet

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones haven’t been out for long, but Apple is already pushing towards releasing its refresh models for the tablet series. In anticipation of the new devices, we have decided to try out a not so common matchup and compare the iPad Air 2 to the iPhone 6 Plus, which is large enough to be considered a phablet.

The iPhone 6 Plus and all other phablets in general have the advantage of a bigger than normal screen which can be used to  display media content more efficiently, while also remaining in the boundaries of a smartphone, therefore more portable than a tablet.

The iPad Air features a 2048 x 1536 resolution and a pixel density of 264 ppi. On the other hand the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a smaller resolution but a much larger pixel density for that matter, of 401 ppi. In the end, both displays have their strong points, as the iPhone 6 Plus provides a better qulity, but the iPad Air 2 comes with the bigger screen, of course, and is better for extended periods of time spent watching video.

From a processing point of view, according to GSM Arena, these two devices share the same hardware. Both devices stepped up and improved their processing capabilities, and now feature the A8 processor from Apple. Last year’s devices came with the A7.

When it comes to camera, the iPhone 6 Plus wins due to its advanced and extra capabilities and options. The camera on the iPhone 6 Plus is better optimized and has a ton of other features. The iPad’s camera comes without some options such as OIS.

Both handsets are recognized as good devices from this point of view, as they come with features and functions that make the user experience a delight..

In the end you are the only one who can choose between these two as you are the one who knows what you want out of a device. If you are all about watching movies until late at night for several hours, then you might be better off with the iPad Air 2 which comes with a great display, but if you prefer to have a portable device which gets really good pictures taken, the iPhone 6 Plus is more close to what you need.
