The iPhone 6 could mark a huge leap in the brand history of Apple’s mobile devices, as the 5S and the 5C only had a few simple updates on the earlier models.
There is a plenty of pressure on this new model from Apple and there is also a lot of rumor and speculation doing the rounds on this next generation mobile handset. It is supposed to be the most eagerly anticipated smartphone and will be way ahead of the 5S and the iPhone 5 with respect to its specs and features.
Expected Release Date and Price
Though many people expected the iPhone to have debuted in 2013, we can expect it some time in the end of 2014, most probably in September. It will most probably be accompanied by the iWatch, which will run the iOS 8, a new operating system being run for the first time on a handset. There are some who suggest that two phones will be released, a 4.7 inches iPhone around September and a 5.5 inches iPhablet that will be released around the end of October, but the latter could well slip to the next year, that is 2015, as there are also rumors that the bigger iPhone 6 of 5.5 inches has some production issues. The 4.7 inches phone seems to be right on track.
There’s one thing that you can be pretty sure of regarding the price of the new iPhone 6. It is surely not going to come cheap. It will be a premium device and will have a premium price tag. The price will probably be hiked up by about $100 from the previous model for a 4.7 inches screen or maybe for a bigger screen that is like a phablet, at a price of about US$400. There might also be three variants in size and these might be on the lines of an iPhone Mini, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 XL. There might also be more premium metal used in the new phone with a liquid metal 3 dimensional printing offering a better and more sophisticated chassis.
It is rumored that the new phone will have a giant Retina and an IGZO display and may not have a home button. It will also probably include gesture control and the Touch ID for finger print technology. The display will have a full high definition resolution of 1080p. Apple is expected to introduce dual phone sizes to compete with its rivals and both will be slimmer, due to enhancements in the LED technology for backlighting. Apple now realizes that users want a bigger screen, so it will come with 2 screen sizes and two resolutions, pushing things further with the Retina display on a bigger display.
It is also expected that the new iPhone 6 will come with a Quad High Definition resolution, which will be a big leap from its sub 720p Retina screen display for the 5S and the 5C phones. However, some feel that there will not even be a full HD screen and it might merely sport a better resolution of 1334 x 750 p, with a ppi of 328 and maintain the aspect ratio similar to the 5S in case of the smaller 4.7 inches model, whereas the 5.7 or 5.5 inches model, its s expected, will have a full High Definition screen display of 1920 x 1080p with a high pixel density of 401 ppi.
Expected Enhancements in Performance
It is rumored that Apple is thinking of magical morphing, a technology that will be able to hide the sensors and also the cameras. It is also rumored that the new iPhone 6 will feature a wraparound display that is flexible, but this might not probably make it and might be introduced only in the iPhone 7 or possibly the iPhone 8.
