The iPhone 4S was released 3 years ago and at that time there weren’t many smartphones that could compete with Apple’s flagship. Now, the new iPhone 6 is driving the fans crazy, luring them with the new features added to the device. But, there are many iPhone 4S users who aren’t ready yet to upgrade. However, maybe after reading this article, they’ll find out a few things about the iPhone 6 and they’ll want to get their hands on it.
With every iPhone they released, Apple made significant improvements on their smartphones, bringing more beautiful and powerful devices to blow their fans’ minds. This is exactly what happened with the iPhone 4S, which replaced the plastic iPhone 3GS, and the iPhone 6 was meant to replace the glass from the back and to be more elegant only with metal. So, while the iPhone 4S measured 115.2×58.6×9.3mm and weighted 140grams, Apple increased the body sizes of the iPhone 6, which now measures 138.1x67x6.9mm and made it a lot lighter, of 129grams.
If you have to go back into the past, you’d be very satisfied of iPhone 4S’ 3.5inches display which is able to support a resolution of 960x640pixels with 326ppi. With the new iPhone 6, Apple recovered the lost ground and made some improvements in the screen technology, opting for a bigger 4.7inches display which has the same pixel density, but a higher resolution of 1334x750pixels.
It’s easily to conclude that a bigger display means a better viewing experience, but it’s harder to operate on. That’s why Apple came with a one-hand mode called Reachability, which slides the top of the display down.
Hardware and OS
The iPhone 4S was powered by an Apple A5 dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9 processor which coupled with a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU and 512MB of RAM, and it had four unexpandable variants of internal memories of 8/16/32/64 GB. The iPhone 6 is a lot more powerful, being equipped with an improved 64-bit Apple A8 dual core 1.4 GHz Cyclone processor, which teams up with a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. Unfortunately, Apple still doesn’t seem to satisfy their customers’ desires to add microSD card slots for expanding the internal storage. And now, you can opt for one of these variants: 16/64/128 GB. However, on the iPHone 6, Apple added faster WiFi.
The iPhone 4S came with the prehistoric iOS 5, but now it runs on iOS 8.1, while the iPhone 6 came with the new OS and received the new update in short time.
Both cameras are 8MP, but the iPhone 6 comes with additional features such as dual-LED flash instead of single LED flash, phase detection autofocus, 1/3” sensor size and 1.5µm pixel size instead of 1/3.2” sensor size and 1.4 µm pixel size; HDR, simultaneous HD video and image recording, FaceTime over Wi-Fi or cellular etc. While the older iPhone had a VGA front camera, the one on the iPhone 6 is 1.2MP.
The iPhone 4S was powered by a 1432 mAh battery which allowed only 8 hours of talking time on 3G. The iPhone 6 is kept alive for 14hours when talking on 3G, because its battery is bigger, of 1810 mAh.
Apple introduced Apple Pay -NFC on the iPhone 6, with which you can make payments. The TouchID on the front panel, hidden inside the home button, can be used to lock and unlock your device. Also, the new model comes with 4G LTE, for a faster data speed.
