Motorola are on a pretty good spree for new devices right now. Whether it be the Moto E for low end markets, the new Moto G which offers budget price tag for reasonably high end internals, the new Moto X which sits right up there with the other high end flag ships or its best in class Moto 360, a smart watch which blows it competition out of the water in looks. Despite this killer line up and the rumored Nexus 6, Motorola are keeping it up with new phones according to a recently leaked manual for the new Droid Turbo which talks specifications.
The Motorola Droid Turbo that we’ve seen from these leaks is one that should make any smart phone enthusiast more than excited, offering top of the class hardware at each and every turn. To start with, the phone is just 5.2 inches, a size which is considered fairly small when compared to the competition, but which packs a QHD 1440p display anyway. This highest of resolutions on a 5.2 inch device gives it a PPI of 565, which should make it the smoothest looking phone out there right now.
The phone is far from a one trick pony however, as it also includes a 21MP camera, again going head to head with the device which currently offers the very highest end camera, the Sony Xperia Z3. As well as this monstrously large number of pixels, the camera can also record 4k (also 2160p) video, and has dual LED flash. This means if a very high end camera is a priority to you, there is one more phone hoping for your attention.
The phone is also very well loaded on the inside too, offering a 2.65GHz quad core Krait 450 with Adreno 420 graphics, which mean that any game available on the android store, and even some fairly heavy emulators or other CPU intensive tasks will run like a breeze on your Motorola Droid Turbo, should you decide to pick one up.
Storage and memory are fairly lackluster but still offer some of the better options, with currently just a 32GB model seen, and so far the amount of RAM is looking to be 3GB, matching every other flag ship smart phone out right now. To help fill some of that space the phone will come with the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 (or L) which means if y0u want a high end android 5 phone this might be one of your few
So what makes the Droid Turbo so special if in every category it just matches the competition? Although the Droid Turbo is always just tied for the very best at everything, it is so far the only phone to tick all of the high end boxes at once. The Xperia Z3 has a 20.7MP camera but just a 1080p display for instance, and where the LG G3 has a 1440p screen its camera falls short of the Droid Turbo as far as its camera and its CPU go.
This means that if you wanted a device which is the very best at the time of release, the Droid Turbo is the easiest choice. Not only this, but since it will launch with Android 5.0, it will give you one more area where you can feel your phone dominates the competition. If this sounds like your sort of phone, the current expected release and announcement date is falling somewhere in November 2014, meaning if you’re currently shopping for a phone you may want to hold back a little longer.
The Motorola Droid Turbo offers everything all at once, and in a smaller package than its competition. There might be a clever catch in there somewhere, but right now it looks like the easiest phone to recommend for almost any high end purpose.
