Apple has always been able to handle its own against an army of devices that use Android as their OS.
As a company, Apple has been delivering amazing devices that are loved by the users from all over the world. However, the Nexus series are getting really popular and a question that is worth asking is – can Apple handle the pressure?
It is always interesting to compare two devices that are really different when it comes to the design. The iPhone 5S features a standard Apple design and it is really a premium looking phone, whereas the Nexus 5 can feel a bit too simple and plastic. The iPhone 5S has an aluminum finish with chamfered edges and the device is available in three different color versions that became a standard, when it comes to Apple’s devices. An interesting fact is that the phone is not much lighter than the Nexus 5, despite the difference in size, and this is due to the a much higher density that the iPhone 5S has. The Nexus 5 has a matte plastic finish with familiar sloped edges and as it was stated before, this device feels very simple. There is one feature that makes it stand out in the crowd, though, it has a large camera on the back, which is something we aren’t really used to seeing on the other smartphones.
Which display will you prefer is totally up to you, but when we consider the specs of the displays, the Nexus 5 wins. A first reason for that is that the display on the iPhone 5S is a bit too small for today’s standards (4”), whereas the Nexus 5S has a satisfying 4.95” display that is neither too small, nor too big. The Nexus 5 also has a higher pixel density (445 ppi on the Nexus 5 versus 326 ppi on the iPhone 5S). The colors on both devices are really accurate and both displays are really clear and sharp.
Everything else aside, specs are the most important part of the phone. Without good specs, you can’t really expect anything else to work as intended and as far as specs on both phones go, you shouldn’t worry about a thing. Both devices feature powerful hardware that will handle the most demanding applications that are available out there. The iPhone 5S has Apple’s A7 chipset, while the Nexus 5 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, making them both devices with powerful processors. When it comes to the specs, it is a tie really and the specs shouldn’t be an important factor in your decision since both phones have great specs.
This comparison results in a tie. The iPhone 5S is a truly great device that would have won if it had a larger display with a slightly higher pixel density, but nothing is perfect. A beautiful thing about this device is its design that is nicely coupled with the powerful specs. The Nexus 5 has a brilliant display that will satisfy everyone, but one of the major flaws is the design that feels mediocre at best.
