After signing up with Vikas Agarwal, OnePlus one will start shipping the “One” to India and the phone will be limited and purchased on the basis of invites. The Xiaomi Mi 4 is another flagship that will win many hearts, but before rushing to pick a winner, first you’d better take a look at their specifications.
The Xiaomi Mi4 has a perfect flat back panel and a rectangular body with rounded corners and has a thin aluminum frame. The OnePlus One is available in Silk White and Sandstone Black shades and has a slightly curved back, with chrome trimmed lip surrounding the display. The OnePlus One measures 152.9×75.9×8.9 mm and weights 162grams, while the Mi4 is way lighter at 149grams, but that’s because it measures 139.2×68.5×8.9 mm. However, only the OnePlus One has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 playing the role of a protector for its screen.
The OnePlus One is bigger, a phablet more exactly because of the size of its display – 5.5inches. The LTPS LCD screen supports a resolution of 1080x1920pixels, but if you prefer a smaller screen with the same resolution, the 5inches IPS LCD display will impress you especially because it renders a higher pixel density of 441ppi.
Processors and operating systems
In this department there isn’t a winner that we can pick, because both devices have identical processors – quad core 2.5GHz Krait 400, based on a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset, which means that the graphics are both from Adreno 330. However, the OnePlus One comes with an older Android version – v4.4.2 (KitKat), and in the meantime, it was upgraded to v4.4.4 (KitKat). The Xiaomi Mi4 runs on v4.4.3 (KitKat) and we can’t really tell when either of these models will receive the Lollipop version. While the Mi4 comes with the company’s MIUI, the OnePlus One has CyanogenMod 11S on top of the KitKat OS.
Both processors are paired with 3GB of RAM and the internal storage is available in two variants on 16 and 64GB, on both devices. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to expand their capacities because the phones don’t support microSD card slots.
Both rear cameras have the same resolution – 13MP and the features are almost identical – autofocus, dual-LED flash, HDR, panorama, touch focus, geo tagging etc., but the Mi4 has 1/3” sensor size and 1.12µm pixel size. Many selfie lovers are looking for high end smartphones with excellent front cameras, and these phones will meet their needs. However, the Mi4 has a better front camera of 8MP, while the other phone has a 5MP secondary shooter.
There are other similarities in this department also. Both batteries are non-removable, and OnePlus One’s unit has a capacity of 3100mAh, with 20mAh more than Mi4’s battery.
The price of the Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB variant is 324 dollars, while the 64GB variant costs 65 dollars more. The OnePlus One 16GB variant is priced at 299 dollars and the 64GB variant is 50 dollars more expensive.
