Protect Your Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 with Guest Mode

Privacy is a big part of our lives today.

One of the new features that Google introduced with the Android 5.0 Lollipop is to give the users a way to protect their smartphones from friends and family. At first, you might think you do not need to protect your data from friends, but not everyone should see your private messages with loved ones, some sensitive pictures or anything else. And if you have ever tried to give the smartphone to a young nephew to play games, you are well aware of the problems that might come out. Guest Mode figures to solve these issues. So if you want to protect your Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 from invaders to your privacy, activate Guest Mode.

How to Switch to Guest Mode?

Switching to Guest Mode is very easy on the HTC One M9, but it is absent on the Galaxy S6. To switch to guest mode, swipe down the quick settings menu, tap the avatar and click the “add guest” button. This will enable the Guest Mode. You can add friends and family members on separate accounts and lend them your phone for usage without the fear they will mess something up or read your private data. After you select the different profile, you will be taken into Guest Mode. Your One M9 handset will look as it was first launched with the Android 5.0 Lollipop on it. All the apps will be in their original positions and there will be no option to mess with the settings menu.

Configure Guest Mode

Go to the users menu in Settings to change how the Guest Mode works on your Galaxy S6 or HTC One M9. There, you will be able to enable the features your guest can use, such as making phone calls, giving them access to certain locations in your phone (gallery, messages, etc…)

Samsung Late to the Party

It is important to note that at the moment, the Guest Mode is not available for Samsung Galaxy S6 users. While the feature is part of the Android 5.0 Lollipop eco system, Samsung decided not to include it in the software of the S6. However, after further review, Samsung has acknowledged the need for the Guest Mode on its precious flagship, the Galaxy S6. The feature will arrive with the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 which is expected sometimes in the summer.
