Angry Birds was one of the most successful apps of all time, hitting the mainstream as THE app for mobile devices, being one of the best selling, highest rated and often most played apps in every store it released in. Well, the stream of income a game with downloads in the 9 digits provides has given the company behind it; Rovio a lot to do. The efforts seem to be split between more Angry birds monetization, with brand deals and a new movie coming out, but also with trying to create the next big game. The latest attempt at the latter comes in the form of the game retry.
As a result of high quality and association with angry birds, retry is already starting to make a name for itself, just tap the screen to fly the airplane around, trying to get it to the objective without it crashing. The game is obviously inspired at least in part by games like flappy bird, but it does a lot to bring something fresh to the table, since just tapping when you need to go up ins’t enough, you need to control the angle the plane is flying at as well as its momentum
If you’ve already downloaded the app, you’ve probably already gotten frustrated with your lack of control on the plane, and the amount of coins it’s costing you to restart. This guide will give you simple advice to help you through the game.
Step 1 – eliminate unnecessary spending of coins. It might seem enticing and even necessary to stop at each of the platforms which you can retry from, but in reality it just costs you coins for what might not even be a useful checkpoint. Avoid paying for checkpoints until you absolutely have to, and if you feel like you NEED to speed through the game try stopping at every second or third retry point.
Step 2 – learn how the flying works. It’s suprisingly easy to go through the game without a firm grasp of how exactly the plane flies, or learning how to take it in a direction and indeed trial and error is surprisingly accurate for a lot of the early game. However the plane will sometimes get stuck in a loop, wasting fuel and leaving you at an impasse. The plane is simple enough to understand in this situation though, if you want the plane to go in a direction, let go of the gas just AFTER you’re in the position, not just before.
Step 3 – revisit older levels. Revisiting older levels is an easy way to get starts, coins and improve at the game. Instead of tearing yourself up on the newer levels, try revisiting the older ones.
Step 4 – Once you get to the harder part of the game, try not to focus on the coin placements, and instead just focus on beating the level. A lot of the coins can side track you significantly, and you can always come back later if you really need them.
Following these four steps will take you retry noob to retry expert, and allow you to actually control your plane. The game is very fun, and hopefully this helps you enjoy it more!
