Samsung Galaxy Alpha Review – Design, Display, Specs and Battery

The Galaxy Alpha was quietly announced by Samsung, but it is a device that has received a lot of attention from all over the world.

It is a device that features a completely new direction when it comes to the design of Samsung’s devices and it can brag with really strong specs. All of this makes the Galaxy Alpha a great device that should definitely be looked into.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha is one of the best looking devices that have been released by Samsung. It has a nice metal touch that surrounds the device’s edges and when you combine that with the soft plastic on the back (that doesn’t look cheap like on other devices), you get a really nice phone that looks and feels great. It is not too large, which makes it really portable and it is a perfect device for those that do not want an oversized display.

It was expected that the display will be good, especially on a phone that looks as nice as the Galaxy Alpha does. It features a 720p AMOLED screen, which looks really great. Do not let the “low” resolution discourage you, as it has a smaller screen that doesn’t demand a high resolution. Colors are really vibrant and accurate, and they allow everything to look great. If you take your phone outside, you will notice that you are not having issues when viewing it under direct sunlight since the glare is minimal. Viewing angles are great too, and there isn’t a bad thing to say about this remarkable display.

The Galaxy Alpha features the Snapdragon 801 processor (clocked at 2.5 GHz) and 2 GB of RAM. These specs make it a powerful phone, especially for its size. The phone can lag sometimes, but that is due to Samsung’s badly optimized TouchWiz, something that has always been disappointing on their devices that would be perfect if it wasn’t for that flaw.

The battery is the only thing that is not impressive on the Galaxy Alpha. Don’t get it wrong, it is not a bad battery by any means, but it could have been a bit better. If you use your phone heavily, you will be able to get about 12 hours out of it, and considering that the Galaxy Alpha’s screen is only 4.7” large, the battery should have lasted much longer. You do need to charge it every night, but that is the case with most phones out there. The battery has 1860 mAh capacity, and again, it would be much better if Samsung decided to go with the higher capacity battery.

Final Verdict

The Galaxy Alpha is a great device, especially if you are looking for a phone that has a smaller screen. It is capable of handling a wide variety of apps, and that is something that every user is happy with. The best thing about this device is that it really looks beautiful, and its sleek design is combined with really nice specs. However, the battery could have been much better, and we hope that it is something that Samsung will look into in the future.
