Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – Specifications and Pricing Compared

Samsung began a revolution in the phablet segment by launching the original Samsung Galaxy Note.

This phone went on to become a great success. The second-generation managed to repeat the success. Now, the third-generation has come out to a lot of plaudits. Due to the overwhelming success achieved by this segment, Samsung is already preparing the replacement for the Galaxy Note 3. The upcoming device is expected to be named as the Galaxy Note 4. There are already several rumors about the features expected in this device.

This is the single most dominating factor in the Galaxy Note 3, as it manages to increase the size to a whopping 5.7 inches. Even after the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S5, it still continues to retain the status as the largest display within a mobile phone from the Samsung range. Since it is already bordering on the edge of being classified as a tablet, Samsung is unlikely to increase the screen size any further on the Galaxy Note 4. However, the upcoming device could feature more resolution in the display.

Instead of the 1080p unit in the current model, the Galaxy Note 4 could feature a 4K unit. This would increase the current pixel density by four times.

Much Better Processor

The Galaxy Note 3 already has one of the most powerful processors in a mobile phone. Depending upon the location where the phone is bought, it comes with either a snapdragon or Exynos chip. The snapdragon processor is a quad core unit, while the Exynos is an octa-core unit. However, more crucially, both these processors are 32-bit units. This means that the phone will be unable to take advantage of all the improvements provided by the Android operating system.

Hence, the Galaxy Note 4 is rumored to come with a 64-bit processor, which will be the first time it will be featured in a mobile phone. Since the upcoming iPhone 6 is also expected to come with a 64-bit unit, Samsung may very well decide to prepone the launch of the Galaxy Note 4.

Major Improvements

One of the major improvement in the Galaxy Note 3 is the support for various gestures on the stylus. Previously, this was not the case, but it is now possible to do gestures that are unique to this phone due to the presence of a stylus. This feature is expected to be improved slightly in the Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy Note 3 features 3 GB of RAM, which is the same that is present in the Galaxy S5. However, if in case the Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 64-bit processor, then it is likely that the phone will have more than 4 GB of RAM in order to take advantage of this increased processing power. The battery and other aspects are expected to remain similar in the Note 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is available for around $ 200 in contracts. This is the price for the 32 GB variant. The Galaxy Note 4 should be available at a similar price when it is launched.
