Samsung has been the unprecedented king of the mobile arena.
Over the years, the Korean giant has produced a number of products catering to the needs of the masses. Samsung has been producing user friendly and pocket friendly handsets for the consumers. The company was the first to recognize the desire of the people for a bigger screen, but at a low price. However, having a successful venture in the smartphone department, the Korean giant turned towards the tablet segment. After initial disappointment, the Korean giant eventually got it right.
The Galaxy Tab series from Samsung comes in the medium range tablet segment, whereas, the Galaxy Tab Pro series offer premium tablets. Keeping that in mind, today we will evaluate the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch tablet against the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4-inch tablet. In case, you were looking forward to purchasing an Android based 8-inch or 10-inch tablet, you are most likely to end up choosing between the Tab 3 10.1 and the Tab Pro 8.4 tablet.
The Tab Pro 8.4-inch tablet edges past the Tab 3 10.1-inch tablet easily. The Super LCD screen of the Tab Pro 8.4-inch handset incorporates a higher resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels. The display features a superior pixel density of 359-ppi (pixels per inch). The counterpart, Tab 3 10.1-inch tablet comes with a TFT panel, displaying 16M color touchscreen. The display comes with a decent resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, having a lower pixel density of 149-ppi. The higher pixel density of the Tab Pro 8.4-inch tablet apparently offers a better viewing experience than Tab 3 10.1-inch tablet. The Tab Pro 8.4 touchscreen offers the user up to 10 finger multi-touch support.
Without doubt, the Tab Pro 8.4 offers responsive and lag free multi-tasking experience. The mobile world is full of free applications to enhance multi-tasking experience in your tablet or smartphone. However, the tablet has to be well equipped with a powerful combination of processor and graphic processor for flawless multi-tasking experience. Without a decent GPU, the visual display during multitasking may render the tablet unresponsive. The Tab Pro 8.4 is better equipped with a powerful quad core processor, with all four cores running at 2.3GHz speed. However, a dedicated graphic processor, Adreno 330 along with 2GB of RAM ensures smooth functioning of the handset during multi-tasking.
On the other hand, the Tab 3 10.1-inch handset incorporates a dual core processor, clocked at 1.6GHz. However, SGX544MP 2 PowerVR graphic chip along with 1GB of RAM ensures multi-tasking goes smoothly. The Tab 3 10.1 comes in two internal storage variants – 16GB and 32GB.
The Adreno 330 graphic chip is better equipped to handle multi-tasking in the Tab Pro 8.4-inch tablet. However, both devices come equipped with external storage card slot for memory enhancement up to 64GB.
The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch handset, with Wi-Fi only feature, is available for a price of $329.99. However, the Tab Pro 8.4-inch handset, with Wi-Fi only features, having 16GB internal memory comes at a price of $369.99.
