Skype began back in 2003 and since then, it has been at the top end of the business, when it comes to offering users across the globe with quality VoIP services.
Skype has managed to amass more than 650 million users since it came into being and these people make free voice and video calls as well as send and receive free text messages using this platform.
The latest version of Skype 5.7 comes with a lot of features that you can make use of and actually look like a pro when using the app. You can apply certain features to your chats and messages that’ll make your chat mates admire your expertise.
It is almost impossible to master all the features that this app comes with. Even some users only make use of one or two features of Skype, maybe due to their busy schedule, or maybe because they don’t know that these features exist. In this article, you’ll be treated to three tips you can use to make your conversations look like a pro when using Skype.
Adding a Contact to Favorites’ List
Skype offers users with the ability to prioritize their contacts. It is possible that you talk to a certain person or group of people more often than you do to others. By any means, you’d want these people to be easily accessible whenever you want to chat or call them, especially for users with a large contacts list. It is easy to locate a contact by adding them to your favorites list.
In order to do this, find the name of the person you wish to add to your favorites’ list and then right click on it. From the resulting popup menu, you’ll be provided with a list of options from which you’ll be required to choose the one labeled “Add to Favorites” at the bottom of the menu. If you want to add more than one person, you can keep repeating the above process for each of your preferred contacts and in this way, you’ll easily access them from your Favorites’ list.
Sending Multimedia Files
It is common to find situations where you’ll need an image or picture to pass a message in a much better way than words would do. You can also do this with Skype and use an image to pass a message to your friend. In so doing, you’ll ensure that the information sent is well understood by the recipient. A picture is just one of the many multimedia files you can send using Skype. You can also send other file formats with Skype and they include PDF, MP3, ZIP and RAR among many others. You can also use these multimedia files for collaborating on work assignments.
In order for you to send a multimedia file using Skype, you can do it by simply clicking on the name of the contact you’d wish to send the file to and click on “Conversation” option you can see at the upper end of the navigation menu. After scrolling down, you’ll see the option labeled “Send”, click on it and from the resulting menu, select the option labeled “File…” after which a window will appear from which you can select the location of your file and send it.
