Sony is a renowned name in the electronics market.
The company has been making news in the smartphone arena for a long time. However, the Xperia series from Sony have impressed the market. However, with the release of the Xperia Z2 handset, the company imprinted its presence in the mobile arena. The successor to the successfully acclaimed Xperia Z1 handset, the latest release is all set to take on anything thrown its way. However, Z1 has made its presence felt in the smartphone arena with the release of its compact version, the Xperia Z1 Compact handset. The company is rumored to have plans for the compact version of the Z2 handset, but until date, the Xperia Z2 is here to stay.
The large 5-inch display of the Xperia Z1 was not considered user-friendly for most consumers. As a result, the company released the Z1 Compact version. The compact version from Sony fits in the palm brilliantly, due to its decent 4.3-inch display. As a result, the pixel density of the Z1 Compact comes to 342-ppi, which is good enough to provide the user with a decent viewing experience. Meanwhile, the Xperia Z2 offers pixel density of 424-ppi, despite the handset coming equipped with a bigger 5.2-inch display.
The full HD screen offered on the IPS panel provides the user with superb contrast ratio. Both the handsets come equipped with similar Triluminos technology. However, the latest release from Sony comes equipped with pertinent tweaks to make the handset a favorable option.
Sony excels in optics. It is evident on both the handsets coming equipped with a massive 20.7MP camera. However, it was first seen on the Xperia Z1 handset. Sony retains the sensor size for the Z2 handset, but compromises on the 4K video capturing ability. The Xperia Z2 features an enhanced 2.2MP user-facing camera, as compared to the 2MP camera equipped on the Xperia Z1 Compact handset.
Sony has never compromised on the connectivity options. The company equips the two handsets with Wi-Fi, hotspot, Wi-Fi direct, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and DLNA options.
The external memory card slot was missing in the earlier released handsets from Sony. However, the company made certain changes in their handset design and incorporated external memory card slot for both Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z2. However, the Z2 edges past the Z1 Compact handset, as it supports 128GB card. On the other hand, the Z1 Compact can be expanded up to 64GB only.
In terms of RAM, the Z2 features a superior 3GB of RAM, edging past Z1 Compact and most other handsets. However, the RAM of 2GB, equipped in the Z1 Compact handset offers decent support to the Android 4.4 operating system for a smooth functioning of the smartphone.
Price of both the handsets marks yet another big difference. The latest release, the Xperia Z2 smartphone comes at a price of $701, which is highly exorbitant. Meanwhile, you can avail the Z1 Compact smartphone for a price of $450.
Both the smartphones are packed with specs and features to offer a great smartphone experience.
