At the beginning of December 2010, a new messaging application showed up and stole many users from Skype or WhatsApp, luring them with attractive features such as voice and video calling. At first, it ran on iOS, but later, it extended its availability for other mobile devices running on Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Symbian, Series 40. The great thing about it is that it can be used on desktops as well, if they’re running on Windows, Linux or Mac OS.
The developers released an update for Viber and the 126.96.36.1999 APK can be downloaded from the official website. According to Wikipedia, there are280 million global registered users, but only 100 million are monthly active users. They installed Viber because it’s a free application which allows them to easily communicate with their friends for free, through text messages, but they can also send images, videos and audio recordings. Besides, they can make high quality voice calls for free to other Viber users, or they can call landline or mobile numbers using the Viber Out service – however they have to pay and the rates are very low. The app allows creating group chats with up to 100 members, they can use emoticons and stickers, play games and receive messages even if they’re offline.
The latest version brought many enhancements and easy account activation on tablets, the quality of the calls has been improved, it supports Android wear, it has clearer contact info, more stickers, improvements to the public chats, your own custom icon can be used in groups and you can become an admin to manage your groups.
