Welcome! Login in to your account Forgot your password? Recover your password
WhatsApp is one of the best chatting applications for mobile devices and it is more and more popular on Android and iOS. Even if there are many messaging applications out there, it seems that WhatsApp is preferred by more Internet users, mostly because it was bought by Facebook.
Here are a few WhatsApp Tips and Tricks
Recovering Deleted Messages
By default, WhatsApp saves your messages every day at 4AM. In case you delete a message by mistake, you will recover it by uninstalling WhatsApp and installing it back. During the installation, WhatsApp will detect that backup file and it will ask you if you want to restore it. Tap restore and the deleted message(s) will be recovered.
Sending Two pictures in One
If you ever guessed how a friend sent you two pictures in one picture, then you’re in luck because we’re just going to reveal you how it’s done. This trick is used to fool friends by sending a picture with some nice looking girl or something similar, in the front picture, and when you want to open the picture, actually the second picture will be opened, which is usually a prank-like picture such as a cow, pig or whatever you find funny.
To make this trick possible, you will have to install Magiapp on Android or FhumbApp on your iPhone.
Get the pictures of your WhatsApp friends
All the pictures that are “attached” to your friends are automatically downloaded and saved to your device. You can find all your friends’ profile pictures on the microSD card->WhatsApp->Profile Picture. Here, the pictures will be saved with your friends’ phone numbers, so you have to check the phone number of a friend of you to know which one is his/her profile picture. Then, you can use that picture as contact or whatever else you think of.
Changing Your Friends’ Profile Picture
Keep in mind that it will change ONLY on your device, so if you want to fool somebody you have to make sure they are not using their device right at that time, to make the prank more believable.
To change the picture, you just have to resize a picture to 561x561pixels and then change the name with your friend’s phone number. After that, overwrite it on microSD->WhatsApp->Profile Picture and disable data network and Wi-Fi or else WhatsApp will update the profile picture with the real one. Then show the picture to your friend while (s)he’s not having his/her phone around. This is a great prank and you’ll never get tired of your friends’ reaction when they see another profile picture on their WhatsApp account.
Creating a Fake Conversation
You can create fake conversations on WhatsApp, making your friends believe that you’ve talked with a famous artist or anyone you think of. To do this, you will need an application called WhatSaid. Using this WhatSaid application you will be able to create a fake conversation and then show it to your friends and make them believe it is true.
TIP: Keep in mind that WhatSaid was removed from Google Play Store and that you will have to search for it over the internet.
Sending ZIP, PDF, APK and other type of files on WhatsApp
WhatsApp doesn’t allow you to send document files or other kind of unsupported file extensions. However, using Cloud Send application you will be able to send any type of files on your WhatsApp. An alternative way is to install Google Drive and upload the documents and then send them to your friends using the link with the documents were they are located.
Hiding Your Profile Picture
Instead of hiding your profile pic, you can simply decide not to upload any photo. However, this can be done by going to WhatsApp Settings->Account->Privacy->Profile photo and select either “My contacts” or “Nobody”.
Stopping Automatic Media Download
By default, Automatic Media Download is enabled on your WhatsApp. This means that every photo or video file you’re receiving is automatically downloaded. However, this can be turned off by going to WhatsApp Settings->Chat Settings->Media auto-download and turn it on only for the connection you want (most likely you will want it enabled only for when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network).
Changing the phone number that’s linked with WhatsApp
Did you buy a new sim card and what to change your old phone number from WhatsApp? Don’t worry, you can change the phone number that’s linked to your WhatsApp by going to WhatsApp Settings->Account->Change Number. There, you will have to type the old and new number and after you get verified your new number will be linked to your WhatsApp account. Keep in mind that the old number will be deleted from WhatsApp database and it will not be linked anymore with your WhatsApp account.
Do you usually share your mobile phone with your friends to let them make a call or just let them play some games on it? Then you should think of locking your WhatsApp application, as you already know that you don’t need any password to open it and we’re pretty sure that you don’t want your friends to see your private conversations. To do this, you will have to use an application called “Messenger and Chat Lock” that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
Extend the Free Trial Period on WhatsApp
As you already know, WhatsApp is available for FREE in the first year of use. After that, you will be charged 0.99 dollars / year. However, you can extend it by doing a trick. Just before your trial period ends delete your account and create a new one using the same phone number. To delete an account, go to WhatsApp Settings->Account->Delete My Account and enter your phone number. After you delete the account, just create a new one using the same phone number and your account will get another 1 FREE year.
Creating Shortcuts for friends that you’re usually talking with
On Android you can simply add shortcuts with the group or a friend. To do this, just go to the specific contact or group and press on it until a new tab will pop out. Then select “add conversation shortcut” and the shortcut will be created.
On iOS, things are a bit difficult and you will need a third party application for that. The application is called 1TapWA which also comes with some extra features like action scheduler or photo editing.
Do you want to know how much time you usually spend on WhatsApp each day? You can get this information by going to WhatsApp Settings->Account->Network usage. However, if you want more detailed information you can use the WhatStat and you will see a bunch of other details such as: time spend, what hours you are usually active, with who you chat with the most, etc. In addition, the application comes with some great graphs and colors which make the statistic look great.
WhatsApp sending files that are bigger than 16MB
Whether you like it or not, you can’t send on WhatsApp files that have more than 16MB. While images are not that big, there is a problem when you are trying to send videos, since we know that videos use a lot of space. However, by using the Video Converter Android application, you will be able to compress the video and make it have less than 16MB. Keep in mind that the video will probably lose a slightly bit of its quality.
