The Chinese devices are becoming a more and more noticeable presence on the smartphone market, with manufacturers such as Meizu and Xiaomi stealing some of the spotlight from well-known brands like LG, Samsung, Apple or HTC. The Meizu MX4 has been freshly released, so we thought about comparing it with another device, which has been around since August. Therefore, we have the Xiaomi Mi4 confronting the Meizu MX4.

Design and Display

The MX4 comes with 0.35 inches in thickness and weighs 149 grams. This makes the device heavier than the Xiaomi, which weighs 157 grams, but the thickness is the same for both devices.

Both devices offer a good looking appearance, as the Meizu MX4 features a rounded back plastic cover and a metal frame that gives it extra points for style. The Xiaomi is nicknamed the Apple of China, hence you might have already pictured how the device looks like.

The screen provided by the Meizu has 5.36 inches in size and a 1152 x 1920 resolution. The display features LCD technology while the Mi4 from Xiaomi comes with 5 inch display, which is smaller, and a resolution of 1080 x 1920. The Meizu also leads in pixel density, with 441 ppi to 418 ppi.

Hardware and Software

According to GSM Arena, the Mi4 comes with a Krait 400 processor branded Snapdragon 801 which is combined with the 3 GB of RAM to provide an excellent navigation experience. The processor has a 2.5 GHz clock speed. On the other hand we have an octa core processor that has clock speeds of 1.7 GHz and 2.2 GHz. The RAM capacity is lower than the Xiaomi’s, with only 2 GB included.

With no microSD support, both devices rely on internal storage for their files and such. In the case of the Xiaomi Mi4, you can expect 16 and 64 GB versions, while the Meizu comes with 16, 32 and 64 GB of storage.

The Meizu has a 20.7 MP camera that leaves Xiaomi and its 13 MP camera behind, at least on paper. The Meizu  only provides 2 MP for the front facing camera, while the 13 MP lens comes with 8 MP in its front shooter.

With a 30180 mAh battery, the Mi4 can sustain itself for less than the Meizu which boasts its 3100 mAh.
