Moto E from Motorola is probably the cheapest Android phone.
While you cannot expect much from a device costing $100, the model, with a price tag of $150 certainly brings a series of improvements to the original model. Let’s break it down them.
Design and Display
The Moto E 2015 keeps the same design as the original Moto E, but bumps the display size for a bit. The display increases up to 4.5 inches, but the resolution stays the same 540 x 960 pixels. Another difference in the design is the slightly curviness of the 2015 edition, but it is rather hard to notice.
Hardware and Operating System
The biggest improvements come in this section. The company has powered the Moto E 2015 with the budget friendly, Snapdragon 410 chipset, which is a quad core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. The phone now has 4G / LTE support, which is a great addition to the cheap phone. And while the RAM stays at the same 1 GB limit, the internal memory has been doubled. The Moto E 2015 now boasts 8 GB of built in storage, compared to the 4 GB of the original version. The phone runs rather smoothly and Motorola ships the Moto E 2015 with the Stock Android 4.4 KitKat version. There is no info whether the phone will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update anytime soon.
Camera
The only improvement in the camera section is the addition of a VGA camera as the front sensor. The original version of the Moto E lacked a front facing camera, but the 2015 edition has one. The rear camera is still the 5-MP shooter.
Battery
Another big improvement is in the battery section. The Moto E 2015 edition boasts a 2390 mAh battery, which is a rather large battery for a phone with such low performances and specs. The goal is to increase the battery life as much as possible and deliver a phone that can perform for two days without recharging.
