WhatsApp, just like any other popular app, has the tendency of rolling out new and exciting features for Android users only to roll them later on iOS and other platforms like Windows Phone.
However, it seems things have changed There is a new feature in town known as Storage Usage and it is only available for iPhone users. However, the feature is currently available for those using iOS 8, but it is expected those on iOS 7 and below will soon be getting the update as well.
Other than the Storage Usage feature, WhatsApp for iOS has also included an additional archive option just alongside each individual chat. If you can’t see this update just yet on your installed WhatsApp on iPhone 6, may be you are just running on an older version of the app. To get this version, go to the iTunes App Store and download v2.12.3 for free.
WhatsApp keeps maturing day by day
WhatsApp is less than a decade old and is almost reaching the 1 billion mark when it comes to number of users across the globe. In fact, this hugely followed app is getting better and smarter as each day passes. It is growing by leaps and bounds, turning into an app that people cannot do without as far as internet communication is concerned.
Many people love this app because it offers its services without including any charges. However, you must first of all have an internet connection in order to use it for free. Even though the application allows users to communicate for free, using it is only free for the first one year. After this period has expired, users must start paying a fee of $0.99 per year. Initially, iOS users were only required to pay a one-time fee of $1.99 in order to secure the services of the app, something that changed last year.
WhatsApp lets users of iPhones keep in touch with each other. They can create groups of up to 100 people and include users of other platforms like Android and Windows Phone in these groups. However, the app only allows sharing files of up to 16MB. While it is also possible to share photos, only 10 photos can be shared at a time.
The development of the app continues with the new Storage Usage feature which can be accessed via the Accounts tab. Using this feature, you will be able to know the amount of storage space that each chat or group uses so that you can tell which person or group is using up your storage space. The feature will even provide you with details of which type of message is eating up too much space, be it text, images or videos.
The archive feature will let WhatsApp for iOS users archive their chats with just a single swipe. Swiping right reveals this option in addition to the delete option. In the near future, it is expected that WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp for Windows Phone will both receive this update.
