Apple finally joined the club and made its first phablet, a taller version of the iPhone 6 which was well-received by the fans and analysts. But Samsung doesn’t give up the fight easily, being famous for delivering good-quality phablets such as the Note 3, which is still in great demand in most of the countries. However, every year, new successors of the famous models come to the market and in 2014, it was Note 4’s turn to please our eyes. The device is faster, has a better camera and a higher resolution, being the perfect candidate against Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.
Displays and Sizes
Phablets are a combination between mid-tier smartphones and tablets, being bigger smartphones with an amazing hardware performance. And both the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus fit this category because they have extra large displays and massive bodies. Starting with the iPhone 6, the device measures 158.1×77.8×7.1mm, weights 172grams and has a 5.5inches LED-backlit IPS LCD display supporting a resolution of 1080x1920pixels with 401ppi.
And here are the numbers for the Note 4: body dimensions – 153.5×78.6×8.5mm, weight – 176grams, display – 5.7inches, Super AMOLED, with an incredible resolution of 1440x2560pixels and 515ppi. But, it benefits from Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, so you won’t scratch it easily.
Both phones come with a fingerprint sensor hidden into their home buttons, but the Note 4 brings in addition the famous S Pen stylus. In terms of design, the iPhone 6 Plus beats the Note 4 with its aluminum beautifully shaped body. The Samsung phablet is extremely big and the faux leather rear panel makes it look less premium. But men will like it, no matter what.
Hardware
The iPhone 6 Plus runs like the iPhone 6, on an Apple A8 dual-core 1.4GHz Cyclone processor with an PowerVR GX6450 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It has three variants of unexpandable internal memories whose capacities are 16, 64 and 128GB, while the Note 4 offers 32GB of storage, with the possibility to expand it up to 128GB. Speaking of the Note 4, the device was released in two variants of processors – one that is made by Samsung and another variant is using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with four cores clocked at 2.7GHz. The Korean variant of the Note 4 is powered by an Exynos 5433 processor with two CPUs with four cores each – 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53 and 1.9 GHz Cortex-A57. The first variant is using Adreno 420 graphics and the other one features a Mali-T760 GPU. And the RAM capacity is 3GB.
Software
The iPhone 6 Plus runs on Apple’s latest OS – iOS 8, which already benefited from an update – 8.1. The Note 4 comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS and customized with TouchWiz. The new S Pen stylus has an increased sensitivity, giving you the impression of writing on a paper. Significant improvements were made to the Air Command, Voice Memo, S Note functions etc and the Note 4 supports multitasking better than ever.
Features
Both devices are bundles with lots of features which aren’t found on the other model. So, the iPhone 6 Plus brings Apple Pay – NFC with which you’re allowed to make payments. The Note 4 also has NFC support and you can use it for similar purposes. Both devices have a fingerprint sensor, which was named Touch ID on the iPhone 6 Plus and it’s much more efficient than Note 4’s sensor.
The iPhone 6 Plus is available in three variants of colors – gray, white and gold, while the Note 4 comes in white, black and pink.
The Note 4 has unique features such as an UV Sensor, with which you can measure UV radiation; the heart rate sensor will track the pulse and analyze it with the S Health 3.5 application; the S Pen comes with improvements and will offer a better experience when writing and drawing on the screen.
