The Android 5.0 Lollipop has made its way to most of the flagships in 2014.
Now, it seems like the update is coming to some of the older, yet still popular devices. As of this week, the rollout for the Sony Xperia Z3, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Moto X 2013 edition, has started. Here is what the update brings to each device.
Sony Xperia Z3
The Sony Xperia Z3 is one of the best and most successful flagships in 2014. While the phone is getting the update last, compared to the other flagships, the Android 5.0 Lollipop surely brings new features worth the wait. Nordic and Baltic countries are the first to get the 1.2 GB update, but US users will follow, by the end of March. Some of the new features are mostly centered around the new material design, but Sony keeps the company’s signature lock screen and minimalistic look.
Sony has made the lock screen more customizable with more settings and notifications, making sure that the users decide what they want and get on the lock screen. The Android 5.0 Lollipop brings Multi User profiles and Guest Mode to the Xperia Z3. This way, family and friends can use the handset without harming your data. There is now an option to move data from the microSD card to the internal memory and vice versa.
Samsung Galaxy S4
The firmware for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is available online, giving users the ability to install it over the air manually. Both the LTE and the 3G versions of the phone can be updated. The Galaxy S4 is one of the most successful phones in the Samsung Galaxy S line. The phone introduced some of the best camera features on the market, such as dual shot and the option to shoot videos and pictures at the same time. The phone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos chipset, and comes with 2 GB of RAM.
Moto X 2013
The best news about the Moto X 2013 and the Android 5.0 Lollipop is that the device is being directly updated up to the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, a version with many bugs and issues fixed. The Moto X was a decent mid range phone when released, but now has the specs of budget phones. The phone offers a 4.7 inch 720p display, 10-MP camera on the back, 2-MP sensor on the front, 2 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB internal memory.
