According to a report from The New York Times, the Apple TV 4 will come with an upgraded hardware along with an overhauled remote control.
Now, don’t get us wrong, there is nothing wrong with Apple TV’s remote, as it currently is. The design is still looking pretty modern, it’s very easy to use and it does its job quite well. However, since the Apple TV 4 will come with some improved hardware specs, the device will be able to run additional third-party applications. This means that the users will need the remote control to do all kinds of stuff on their Apple TV 4.
Now, rumors are saying that, actually, the upcoming Apple TV 4’s remote control will feature a similar touchpad that is currently found on Apple’s Macbook range of computers. At the same time, the remote control will feature two physical buttons that will allow you to interact with the menu.
Aside from the hardware changes that the upcoming Apple TV 4 will have, the device will also feature a new look, to be in trend with the new streamers. At the same time, the device will be lighter and slimmer than the previous models and it will run on an improved operating system. When it comes to the user interface, it seems that Apple’s developers are going to change it also.
These are quite good news, but, unfortunately, we have some bad ones also. It seems that Apple TV 4 will not be able to play 4K videos yet. In case this rumor proves to be right, we’re pretty sure that a lot of Apple TV fans will be disappointed.
It seems that Apple is hoping that the touchpad remote control will convince the users to buy this streaming device. Let’s not forget that the users are becoming more and more exigent and in case the Apple TV 4 will not be able to stream videos at 4K resolution, then there will be a lot of consumers who will want to get their hands on Roku 4, which is expected to be released soon with 4K video support.
Apple TV 4 is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming WWDC 2015 event.
