Google Chrome – Download Chromebleed for Free to Detect Heartbleed VulnerabilityGoogle Chrome – Download Chromebleed for Free to Detect Heartbleed Vulnerability

By . Published on April 24, 2014.0

Everyone is talking about the Heartbleed bug, an OpenSSL Internet encryption protocol bug that makes all your information vulnerable to hackers.

This bug has the potential to affect 66% of all internet websites and cause you major heartburns. Ever since this bug has been exposed, a lot of tools have been designed specifically to detect whether a website is vulnerable to the bug. Unfortunately, most of these tools and scanners have to be punched manually every time you visit a new website. There are, however, new tools that can be used as an extension to your browser and they will automatically notify you if a website has a vulnerability.

What is Chromebleed?

Chromebleed is a new extension for Google Chrome browser which, when installed, can notify you if the website you are browsing is in fact vulnerable to Heartbleed. To make things even easier for you, Chromebleed also displays any threats on search results pages, so that you only click through to the websites that are deemed safe by the extension. If any websites are affected by the Heartbleed bug, or is vulnerable to it, the extension displays the icon of a bleeding heart right next to it. This is a very specific browser extension, especially designed for Google Chrome, and therefore is very effective. The extension is currently not available for any other web browser, including the wildly popular Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.

How to Download Chromebleed?

Chromebleed is very simple to install. To install it, simply open your Google Chrome and click on the settings on the top right corner. From the settings, click on the ‘Extensions’ option and select the ‘Get More Extensions’ button. Now, search for the Chromebleed extension. Right next to the extension, you will have a ‘+Free’ button. Click on it and install the extension to your Google Chrome browser. Once you are done, the extension will take a second or two to download and will begin to run in the background while you browse the internet. You can also download the extension directly from Chrome’s online webstore, under the category of extensions.

How to Set Up Chromebleed?

Only downloading the extension does not solve your purpose. In fact, you will have to set it up as well. Once you have installed it, right-click the icon of the Chromebleed extension icon. You will be able to find the icon of a bleeding heart towards the left of your browser’s settings button. Once you have clicked the icon, you will get a drop down menu. Select the ‘Notifications’ option from this menu and check the “Notifications Activated” and the “Show All Notifications” boxes. Usually, these two are not selected by default, and are critical to the functioning of Chromebleed. When both these options are enabled, you will be able to see the status of every website that you visit using your Google Chrome browser. Since all notifications are enabled, the extension will keep notifying you when a website you are visiting is completely safe, and when the extension finds vulnerability.

Surface Pro 2 vs Surface Pro 3 – Specifications and Pricing ComparedSurface Pro 2 vs Surface Pro 3 – Specifications and Pricing Compared

By . Published on April 23, 2014.0

Microsoft came up with the Surface Pro 2 tablet in order to cater to the high-end tablet segment. The iPad dominates in this regard, but the Surface Pro 2 promises to offer much more than an entertainment device.

Apart from being a support a proper keyboard, the device also has several incentives that make it a worthy alternative to the iPad. After having come out in 2013, the Surface Pro 2 could be set for a replacement in the short period.

Microsoft is reportedly working on the Surface Pro 3 with several improvements in almost every area of the device.

Design Unlikely to Be Touched

Design is expected to be one of various features that will be carried over from the Surface Pro 2 since the no-frills design has already been liked by many. The device offers only a couple of physical buttons, but the presence of a proper operating system ensures that the need for more does not arise. The design is simple yet elegant. It also manages to bring about the high-quality nature of the device with its pleasing ethics.

Memory

One of the strong points of the iPad is its versatility to be able to offer something for user in every department. This is especially true in the case of memory where there are at least three options present. Microsoft has gone one better by providing the Surface Pro 2 with four internal memory options, although the amount of internal memory present depends on the RAM. For example, the 64 GB and 128 GB versions are available only with 4 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the 256 GB and 512 GB versions come with only 8 GB RAM.

This feature is unlikely to change in the coming Surface Pro 3, although Microsoft may decide to offer more RAM as standard.

Processor

The Surface Pro 2 came with a very powerful Intel i5 processor, while Microsoft updated the processor to the 1.9 GHz unit from the 4500 series in December 2013. New models of the Surface Pro 2 are shipped with this improved processor, but this is unlikely to stop Microsoft from offering the famed i7 processor in the upcoming Surface Pro 3. This is the stellar processor in the line-up of Intel and using this significantly boosts the new device in the performance takes. The current lineup of devices also uses the Intel HD graphics card, while the upcoming device is also set to retain the same philosophy.

Screen

The Surface Pro 2 comes with a 10.6 inch display with a stylus pen, but this display does not offer a lot of talking points in the device. It does its job brilliantly, but the lack of any standard feature means that the retina display of the iPad could still reign supreme. Right now, it comes with a full HD resolution and the ClearType technology only. The upcoming Surface Pro 3 is expected to provide 4K resolution, which would make the device the ultimate in entertainment as well.

The prices of Surface Pro 2 starts at $ 800, while the Surface Pro 3 will retail above $ 900.
