WhatsApp has recently been extremely busy, rolling out update after update of this instant messaging app.
The latest version of WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK is out and even though this version is available for download, it is still in beta. Due to this beta aspect, it is not possible for all WhatsApp users to download and install this version directly from the Google Play Store. This does not mean you won’t be able to get the app; however, you will have to take a longer path in order to finally install the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android smartphone.
As usual, there is no support for tablets since there is no dedicated app for this platform just yet. However, you can still go around it and use WhatsApp Web on your tablet via the installed Chrome, Firefox or Opera web browser.
Installing WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK beta on Android
As noted above, it is not possible to update your currently installed WhatsApp to the latest v2.12.114 directly from the Play Store. The app can be downloaded from the official website of WhatsApp and after you download the APK, you will again have to meet a number of conditions before installing this new version of the messenger.
The first thing you need to do after downloading the app and before installing it, is to remove the current version of WhatsApp that is installed on your Android phone. Just go to the device’s Apps settings and while in there, scroll down to WhatsApp. Tap on it and then tap on uninstall. But before coming here, make sure you have created a backup. WhatsApp usually creates an automatic backup every morning and so, you should still be able to get back your previous messages.
After removing the app, go back to the security settings and scroll to the “Unknown sources” option. Check it so as to enable installation of apps from outside the Play Store. After this, head back to the folder with the downloaded WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK and tap on this file. You should see the installation process start and after a few minutes, you will be done with the whole setup process.
New improvements
One of the newest improvements that has been included in the latest WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK is the refinement of the WhatsApp voice calling feature. This feature is still very new and it is true to say that it is not perfect just yet. Users have raised concerns over the huge amount of data that making WhatsApp voice calls consumes. As a result, many had reverted to using WhatsApp voice calling services only in emergency cases or when they are using Wi-Fi, since the data charges can be overwhelming.
Since making its appearance, the voice calling feature of WhatsApp has seen gradual improvements come in and with the latest version; this feature now works even much smoother than before. There were complains of lagging calls as well as calls dropping without any reason. These have been taken care of in this new release, in addition to inclusion of other minor bug fixes.
Keep in mind that WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK is still in beta and as such, its stability is still in question. To get a stable version of WhatsApp, go to the Play Store where you can download v2.12.94, which also includes the voice calling service.
