Elden Ring will soon make its appearance on all consoles, and many fans are waiting for the new game. But they are also worried about how the multiplayer mode will be, keeping in mind the new exploit. Elden Ring is the next action RPG game made by FromSoftware. It was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. It is one of the biggest releases in 2022, and everyone – we mean everyone – is waiting for it.
FromSoftware has already confirmed the online multiplayer mode for the game, and it is similar to the one in the past Souls games. So fans are worried about how it will turn out to be on PC.
At the beginning of the year, we’ve learned that a Remote Code Execution (RCE) exploit was found in the Dark Souls series’ online mode on PC. This means that players who get into your world in the game, can actually run arbitrary code on your machine – that’s also malicious code. So hackers could do pretty much anything, from stealing passwords to formatting your HDD. It is the same exploit used in the PC version of Elden Ring, which uses the very same netcode.
On January 23, the Dark Souls series has announced on Twitter that the online multiplayer PvP servers for Dark Souls 3, 2, Prepare to Die, and Remastered have all been deactivated. We’re talking about all of the games from the series that are available on PC. The Xbox and PlayStation servers are still online.
Elden Ring will be released on the 25th of February, 2022, and it will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/s, and PC. The initial release was supposed to be on the 21st of January, but it has been delayed.
