Skype is a favorite video calling app for a lot of people from all over the world.
Even though a handful of apps like it have emerged, since Skype’s own launch over a decade ago, many people still prefer to use Skype as their main communication tool. Skype is great for communicating with the other people – from instant messaging to voice calling and to video calling. But Skype does more than that – if you’re looking for other ways to make the most out of your Skype experience, continue reading below.
Send Video Messages
Did you know that you can also send video messages to your friends using Skype? This feature is very useful if you’ve got a long message or story to tell someone, but too lazy to type. Just record a video message and you’re good to go. You can even accompany it with pictures or your background. Also, what’s great in this feature is that you can send it to any of your offline contacts. They will be able to watch the video message once they go online.
Know Which Parts of Your Profile are Public
Skype users have profiles and some parts of that information can be made public. You can check which parts are set on public and if you want to make changes, you can do that, too. Go to My account page and click Edit. Check the labels on the right to know which fields are on public view. Make the changes if necessary.
Set a Password on Group Chats
When having a group chat with other people, guests can participate in the group chat via a link. If you don’t want uninvited guests to invade your group chat, you can set a password for the said group chat. This is an added security so you can control who can join the chat. No password = no entry to the group chat.
Answer Calls Automatically
Not everyone would want to answer all calls automatically, but for people who don’t have a problem with it can do so by going to the Call settings. Check the “Answer incoming calls automatically”. This will save you time from clicking the answer button and it’s a great opportunity to check up on your family members when you’re away from home. You can also spy on your pets at home so you can finally know what they do when you’re not home.
Now You Can Share Your Screen with a Group
Screen sharing has been available in Skype for a long time, but you can only share with one person at a time for free. If you wanted to share your screen with a group, you needed to be a premium user. Now, this feature was made available for free for all types of users. While on the group chat, just click on the + icon and select Share screens. You can use this feature if you need to walk others through a process or if you have tons of photos you want to share with your friends at once.
