Gmail is Google’s free email service which was released in 2004 for desktops, but later, the company released a native application for both the Android and iOS devices and to access their accounts, the users must run XHTML compliant browsers. If you own an Android smartphone, you can also install third party client applications from the Google Play store. After in November, Google released the version 5.0 of Gmail for Android, now, the version 5.2 is available for download.
We all use an email account to send messages to our friends, even if we’re writing simple texts or we attach multimedia files. Nowadays, people use email accounts less than before, because of the invasion of instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp or Viber, but if you’re a business person, you want to keep in touch with your collaborators through emails, to send them important information about ongoing projects, invitations to upcoming conferences etc.
Gmail remains one of the most used email services, and one year ago, the application for Android hit 1 billion downloads from the Google Play store. When accessing your Gmail account from an Android device, you can do the same things as on the web version: read and reply to emails, compose, attach files, archive emails and save drafts. The Gmail 5.2 APK is the latest version and you can get it from the Google Play store. The file has a size of 12.02 MB and these are the changes that were made to this version:
– all of its features received a brand new look and feel
– Gmail allows you to check and send emails from Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com, as well as other email accounts (you can manage multiple accounts)
– the tablet layout has been improved and you can switch faster between inbox categories and accounts
– if you’re using Android Lollipop, you’ll notice other improvements such as hidden sensitive lockscreen notifications.
To install Gmail 5.2.0, your Android device must run on at least version 4.0.
Google released other subsidiary applications for this email service, such as Gmail Notifier, but which was discontinued on January 30, 2014. In 2011 came Gmail Offline, which is an HTML 5-powered application that allows tablet users to access their email accounts in offline mode.
