When it comes to making a decision between different smartphones, battery life plays a huge role.
No matter the performances and specs, we all want a phone we can rely on, one that will provide enough battery juice for at least the whole day, and can be fully charged quickly. A recent test by android developers has shed some light on the battery life and charging time of the three flagships that were released so far: the HTC One M9, LG G4 and the Samsung Galaxy S6.
Battery Capacity
First things first, we must talk about capacity of the battery. Out of the three phones, the LG G4 is the only one with a removable battery. The G4 also has the highest battery capacity at 3000 mAh. The other two, the One M9 and the Galaxy S6 feature a unibody design that doesn’t allow for a removable battery. The capacity of the S6 is set at 2550 mAh, while the HTC One M9 has a 2840 mAh battery.
Battery Life
The test that android developers ran was designed to put the smartphones on typical real life usage with brightness set at 200-nit. It is worth noting that the LG G4 and the S6 feature QHD display, while the HTC One M9 has a full HD 1080p display. Nevertheless, of the three, the Galaxy S6 delivered best results, lasting 7 hours and 14 minutes, which is considered good time. The other two posted average times, with the LG G4 lasting just 6 hours and 6 minutes, despite having the biggest battery. The HTC One M9 lasted 6 hours and 25 minutes.
Charging Time
When it comes to charging from zero to 100%, the S6 is the best phone among the three. But the S6 has quick charging feature, which results in 100% fully charged battery in just 78 minutes. The G4 needs the most time to fully charge, as the battery requires 126 minutes to go from zero to 100%. The HTC One M9 is again in the middle, requiring 106 minutes to be fully charged.
