T-Mobile was the first carrier in the US to begin the roll out for the Android 5.0 Lollipop, for Galaxy Note 3 users.
Now, AT&T joins the party as well, being the second US carrier to bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop to its users.
How to Get the Android 5.0 Lollipop
To install the update on your Galaxy Note 3, go to Settings and then select General Tab. From there, open the About Device window and click on Software updates. Click on “Check for updates”. After you click Check for updates, you should see a message stating that a new software update is now available for your handset. The update takes several minutes and will not delete any data you previously have on your Galaxy Note 3.
Important note: The update uses up 1 GB of your memory space, so make sure to make space on your device.
The installation starts around 30 seconds after you click check for updates. Your Galaxy Note 3 will start downloading the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, during which time phone services are suspended. Once the new software is downloaded and installed, your device will restart automatically. You will get a message that your device is ready for use.
What is New?
The Android 5.0 Lollipop brings battery improvements, smart lock notifications and the new Material design to your Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The update adds priority mode, which is the new silent mode for the Android users. Smart lock is a new feature that allows users to add a trusted device or location, near which, your Galaxy Note 3 stays unlocked. The new update brings a different approach to recently used applications, which are now listed and can be accessed with just two swipes down from your top screen.
What about Other Carriers?
At the moment, T-Mobile and AT&T are the only carriers in the US to bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop to Samsung Galaxy Note 3. There is no timetable for Verizon and Sprint update to the Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, being that the T-Mobile update came several days ago, it is only logical that in one week Verizon and Sprint bring the update to Galaxy Note 3 users.
