Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs Galaxy Note 4 – This Fall, Will Fall With Improvements

The Note 4 was announced in September last year and if we believe the report from International Business Times, there’s a high possibility that this will repeat with the successor, but we don’t know what important event will take place in 2015, in the same month. ValueWalk predicts that the release date will have a month earlier, but the truth is somewhere in the middle. We found out the leaked specifications of the Note 5 and we’ll compare it against the highly acclaimed Note 4.

Displays and dimensions

GSMArena wrote in November that the Note 5 will bring a massive screen of 6inches, being the first Samsung device with a 4K AMOLED display that will support up to 743ppi. Can any smartphone beat this? So, from 4K you should expect Ultra High Definition of 3840×2160 pixel resolution, and if this rumor will be backed up by other sources, then the Note 5 will be definitely ahead of its predecessor, which features a 5.7inches QHD Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The Note 4 is very robust, but not very thick, its dimensions being 153.5×78.6×8.5mm at a weight of 176grams. The Note 5 will have a weight between 170 and 190 grams, depending on the material that will be used to build its exterior.

Cameras

The Note 4 has a rear camera with a resolution of 16MP, just like the Galaxy S5 smartphone, but with small improvements including optical image stabilization, Fast AF and Live HDR (Rich Tone) and has a new 3.7MP front camera with two selfie modes: Selfie (90 degrees) and Wide Selfie (120 degrees). According to PC Advisor, the Note 5 will bring a 16 or 21MP primary camera and a 5 or 6MP secondary camera which will record vides with Full HD resolution.

Hardware

Samsung equipped the Note 4 with two variants of processors: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad core 2.7GHz Krait 450 and an Exynos 5433 with two quad core processors – 1.3GHz Cortex-A53 and 1.9GHz Cortex-A57. Also, the device supports 3GB of RAM and an internal memory of 32GB which has microSD support to expand the capacity up to 128GB.

As for its successor, Trusted Reviews believes that it will be powered by a 64bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor or even a newer version if it will be released in between. Also, the Exynos variant will be available only in certain markets, and the RAM capacity will be increased to 4GB, and the internal memory will also support expansion.

Batteries and Connectivity

The Note 4 is powered by a 3220mAh battery and the device has support for 2G, 3G and 4G networks, while the OS will be updated to Lollipop very soon. The Note 5 is expected to feature a 3400-3900 mAh battery with a new saving mode and will support 4G LTE Cat 6.0 Network and eye scanning technology, while its front panel will be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and the interior will be protected against dust. The device will run either on Android 5.0 Lollipop or 6.0 Android M. The S Pen will have a new functionality.

Prices

Currently, the Note 4 costs around 673 dollars on Amazon and its successor will retail around 1000 dollars.
