The latest word on the street reveals that Samsung will be pushing out the Android 5.1 Lollipop updates for their latest flagships – the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge – very soon.
Even though reports suggest that Samsung is working on an Android 5.1 update for their latest flagships, there is no news of when this update will be available. This is regardless of the fact that these new smartphones have just been around for less than a month following their announcement in early March 2015.
The current sales of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are already dwarfing what the company got from the sales of the Galaxy S5. This is true because enthusiasts of Samsung devices seem to be more impressed with the latest premium build enhanced specs and as far as the Edge is concerned, the unique curved display.
Android 5.0 Lollipop updates already available for older Samsung models
Samsung has been busy in the recent days with rolling out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for their outgoing flagship the Galaxy S5. While all U.S. carriers have already received this update as far as the Galaxy S5 is concerned, there are other older models from this Korean tech company that are also getting this Lollipop update. These devices include Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport, S5 Active, Alpha, S4, Note 4 as well as Note 3. There is still no room for those on Galaxy S3, which is considered a little older for this Lollipop update.
If you buy a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge right now, the device comes preinstalled with the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, which of course includes the TouchWiz UI. However, it seems Samsung is not very impressed with the performances of the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and as such, an Android 5.1 Lollipop update for these great smartphones is on the cards.
Changes to expect in Galaxy S6/S6 Edge Android 5.1 release
At the moment, there is nothing that Samsung has confirmed regarding the updates that the new Android 5.1 Lollipop will come with. However, this new OS will for sure come with newer and enhanced features than its predecessor.
There is news of a device protection feature that will help the users prevent other people from using the phone without signing in to their Google account. This is regardless of whether a factory reset is done or not. Furthermore, you will enjoy better HD voice calls as long as both you and the recipient of your calls have installed the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update. There are further improvements in the quick settings screen where it is now much easier to access Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
As noted earlier, the release date of Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge latest Android 5.1 L update has not been made official; however, be sure to keep following us and we will update you with the latest news regarding this Lollipop update as soon it is available.
