There are a lot of movies to watch out for this year. The list includes big name series like The Hunger Games, Star Wars, Insurgent, and Terminator. It will also be a good year for animations with titles like Peanuts and Minions coming up in the middle and the end of the year. Even films with lower budgets like Pitch Perfect 2 and Magic Mike XXL are bound to do well. However, there’s one film that we’re keeping an eye out for and that’s The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
We know our choice is highly predictable but hear us out. In a world where action and effects rule, action movies can turn out to be pretty generic, or worse, campy. The Avengers actually have a set of solid actors and they have us dying of anticipation. Here are the guys that we just can’t wait to watch:
Robert Downey Jr. As Tony Stark
When the last Iron Man instalment was released, Robert Downey Jr. made it clear that he wouldn’t come back for another Iron Man movie. However, he also made it clear that it wouldn’t be the last time he would be playing as the man in the iron suit. RDJ is still under contract to make two or three films under Marvel so Age of Ultron is probably one of the last times we will see him as Tony Stark. And RDJ as Tony Stark is just pure awesome.
Mark Ruffalo As The Hulk
We loved Mark in the first Avenger film. Like the rest of the world, we wondered why he doesn’t have his own movie trilogy in the works as The Hulk. If you need proof of the guy’s acting chops, watch HBO’s The Normal Heart. We guarantee that you’ll be asking yourself why he hasn’t gotten an Oscar’s or an Emmy’s yet. Anyway, we loved his big appearance in Iron Man 3’s credits and we can’t wait to watch Bruce Banner and Tony Stark’s budding bromance bloom.
Don Cheadle As War Machine
Don Cheadle has been really fun to watch over the years. We particularly loved his stint as one of the guys in Daniel Ocean’s crew in the Ocean’s series. So, we didn’t find ourselves protesting when he replaced Terrence Howard as “Rhodes” in Iron Man 2. We can’t imagine a better man suiting up as War Machine and we absolutely dug his action scenes in Iron Man 3. We’re hoping he gets more air time in Ultron.
James Spader As Ultron
With a teeny-bopper track record in the movies, nobody really took James Spader seriously in the 80’s. It wasn’t until he joined The Practice in the early 2000’s that people took notice. Spader became particularly awesome at playing bad guys you love to hate. He even solidified this by playing the ultimate bad guy in his current series The Blacklist. In our opinion, they couldn’t have picked a better actor to play one of the coldest and twisted villains in Marvel. We can’t wait to see what he does with it. Whatever he has in store, we think Ultron is in good hands.
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Does this really need an explanation? It’s Samuel L. freaking Jackson as Nick Fury! Duh.
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron has everything you want in a 2-hour action packed movie. With such a strong cast and an equally solid story line, not to mention with Joss Whedon behind the scene, there is no way we are going to miss this movie this year.
