WhatsApp has included the calling feature for those using BlackBerry 10. This news is pretty shocking, since everyone was expecting the app to launch its feature for Windows Phone. Well, this is quite a surprise, isn’t it? In March, the calling feature was appended to Android and was accessible for those operating on iOS.
The app is still disappointing Windows phone users and is falling behind. This new feature allows users to initiate Internet calls. This was just added to Blackberry and was handy for beta users. But those who use Blackberry 10, will still have to wait for the update.
The WhatsApp 2.12.12 for Blackberry, will permit users to call any local or international contacts they have listed via free Wi-Fi, but users cannot use this app on the cellular network. This update also comes with location characteristic advances in the search option field as well as a new font, which resembles that of the Blackberry OS 10.3.
Users can also use the calling element by opening a call tab and simply clicking the call symbol, situated on the top right corner of the phone’s screen. When Facebook bought the app, it also included brand new features and bug fix-ups. WhatsApp will be launching its new video calling feature soon.
But, this calling characteristic has some downfalls as well, such as the echo, unexpected call drops and so on. But not to worry, these are things that will be fixed via upcoming upgrades. The Wi-Fi carrier companies are anticipated to charge up the taxes in areas where the internet is enforced or might actually charge WhatsApp separately.
This app is also expected to gather a lot more users as it slowly takes over the messaging app industry. Applications like Viber and Line have quite a strong competitor to face. The battle is on!
